Zest Juice Co. rolls out 4 new juices to add to their menu of cold pressed juice. Dietician, Emily Fitz wrote up some descriptions (including health benefits) for the newest Zest juices on the block.
- FRESH GREEN (Green Apple, Cucumber, Parsley, Spinach, Celery, Pineapple & lemon) Benefits: bone and heart strength, cancer fighting, anti-inflammatory, immune strengthening.
I’m the freshest of the fresh. I’m full of lemons to neutralize free radicals, which may lower the risk of cancer, pain, inflammation and heart disease. My spinach and celery may amp up your bone and heart strength while the apples and pineapple can amp up your immune system. The parsley gives me carotenoids to fight cancer-causing cells and the cucumbers contribute anti-microbial properties. Stick with me to get on my level. Mic drop.
- STRAWBERRY LIMEADE (Filtered Water, Strawberry, Pear, Apple, Lime). Benefits: hydrating, heart benefits, vitamin C
Bypass the fake lemonade and make a beeline for the Zest line to come find me. Refreshing, hydrating and all natural, I’ll take your love for lemonade to the next level. One study has shown the flavonoids from apples and pears paired together have a significant effect on lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes. The phytochemicals in strawberries have been shown to have cardiovascular benefits by decreasing LDL and improving blood pressure, not to mention the vitamin C from all of the fruits will help strengthen your immune system. Say goodbye to lemonade, and say hello to its new and improved counterpart- Strawberry Limeade.
- CRAVE (Carrot, Grapefruit, Pineapple, Turmeric, Ginger). Benefits: cardiovascular benefits, cancer fighting, eye health
An apple a day keeps the doctor away…more like a CRAVE a day keeps alllll the docs away. Carrots will take care of your eyes with their high Vitamin A content. Grapefruit has your immune system covered and will help decrease inflammation and cancer cell growth. Turmeric has many medicinal effects and is being studied in depth for its cancer preventative properties. It has also been shown to have heart benefits and improved liver function effects. And ginger will soothe your GI system, working to provide digestive relief, nausea and reduce bloating. I mean come on, what more could you want from me! I’m a jack of all trades.
(If you are taking any medications, consult your doctor before drinking grapefruit juice as it may interfere with the activity of some.)
- REFRESH (Pear, Green Apple, Fennel, Green Pepper, Spinach, Lemon) Benefits: bone health, enhanced immune system, blood pressure regulation
I pack a powerful punch….literally. My unique makeup is a dreamland for bone health. Fennel is a spice rich in calcium and potassium, while lemon, green pepper and green apples are all high in Vitamin C. Popeye would be alllll about my spinach-y self…. rich in Vitamin K, folate, iron and magnesium, you’ll be “strong to the finish cause you eats your spinach”….and your REFRESH. Calcium, magnesium and vitamins C and K have all been linked to bone integrity, how convenient that I provide all of the above! But what good are strong bones if you have a week immune system and wacky blood pressure…cue the Vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and calcium once again.
